Thermally tempered glass protects the touch sensors from the harshest conditions. It provides maximum protection against vandalism, weather and dirt.
Rugged Multi-Touch

Touch systems for the harshest environments

Not all touch screens are suitable for industrial applications, where they are often exposed to harsh environmental conditions such as dirt, humidity and high temperature fluctuations. This can quickly cause permanent damage to sensitive surfaces. However, Zytronic's PCAP touchscreens are made for such applications. Thermally tempered glass protects the touch sensors from any weather conditions, and even extreme temperatures do not affect the functionality or service life of the user interface.

Maximum protection

The particularly high conductivity of the projected capacitive touchscreens enables frictionless operation through up to 20mm thick thermally tempered glass. This protects the sensors and makes the touchscreen extremely robust. In addition, the sensors sense human fingers even through gloves, but do not react to non-conductive materials such as dust, oil or water drops. This combination of ruggedness and error-free functionality makes Zytronic touchscreens perfect for a wide range of industrial applications.

Key benefits of the technology

Many industrial applications require extremely robust touch technology, as sensors are often exposed to aggressive chemicals, extreme weather conditions and regular heavy impacts. Zytronic's PCT™ and MPCT™ projected capacitive touch sensors have been tested and proven to meet this challenge.

Designed for industrial and medical applications, our touch sensors offer system designers in this field a wide range of features. Zytronic Sensors:

  • Are not affected in their performance by water, oil, dirt or deep scratches on the touch screen surface.
  • Detect fingers, a conductive pen, and even a gloved hand through glass thicknesses of 20 mm or more, helping hardware designers create intrinsically safe operator panels that meet ATEX and HAZLOC standards for use on oil rigs, in mines, and other potentially explosive environments.
  • Offer HMI system designers the ability to create sealed units that meet NEMA 4, 12 and IP65 or higher standards for dusty or very wet applications.
  • Can be made of thermally toughened and laminated glass of various types, such as Corning® Gorilla® Glass, which prevents damage from heavy use and impact and provides excellent vandal and scratch resistance.
  • Are available with antimicrobial glass and coatings and in fully low-profile designs that are easy to disinfect, fighting the spread of disease and infection.
  • Operate through a protective polycarbonate or plastic front panel, which helps meet strict regulations regarding the use of glass in the food industry (control panels).
  • Provide a nearly limitless selection of other customization options, including privacy filters to restrict viewing angles in safety-sensitive applications, multi-color screen printing to add frames and logos to your design, and IR blocking filters to support system thermal management.
  • Are available in custom designs with no minimum order quantity (MOQ) and usually with no/with low upfront cost (NRE).
